Total Health Packs for Breast Health

Plus 3 Powerful Steps to Healthier Breasts

Folic Acid: is necessary for the successful construction and repair of DNA and for normal cell division. Without it, cells can’t divide properly and can turn cancerous.

Note:  Each Total Health Pack contains 500 mcg of folic acid.

Vitamin B12: works with folic acid, so it’s also a fundamental part of the DNA construction and repair team. Without it, the quality of DNA would never pass inspection. B12 is vitally important for keeping your DNA messages correct and free from cancer-inducing mistakes. Research shows that women with the lowest B12 levels in their bodies have the highest rates of breast cancer.

Vitamin B12 may also be very valuable for women who already have breast cancer. In the laboratory, scientists found that when B12 was applied directly to breast cancer cells, it stopped them from growing.

Note:  Each Total Health Pack contains 35 mcg of Vitamin B12

Vitamin D: protects against breast cancer in several different ways.  It helps to make your breast cells more resistant to toxins, decreases the ability of breast cells to divide, stops tumor cells from growing, causes the death of tumor cells, prevents new blood vessels from growing into a tumor, and boosts the immune system, especially the activity of Natural Killer (NK) cells.

Note:  Each Total Health Pack contains 500 IU of vitamin D3.

Omega 3s: have four main benefits specific to breast cancer. They:

You really must be careful when purchasing omega 3 fish oil. The cheap brands that you can pick up at the super stores are cheap for a reason.  The fish oil can contain concentrated amounts of dangerous chemicals.  Farm raised fish is no safer as it typically contains the carcinogenic PCB’s (polychlorinated biphenyls).

Note:  Each Total Health Pack contains Omega 3 (Wild Salmon Oil EPA 180 mg DHA 120 mg)

Antioxidants: neutralize free radicals.

What are free radicals?   They are damaged molecules that seek to repair themselves by stealing materials from our body’s healthy cells. A powerfully simple but often overlooked equation is to DECREASE free radicals and INCREASE antioxidants.

Free radicals can cause damage to certain cell structures and genetic material within cells such as DNA, resulting in everything from cancer to premature aging.  Chemicals and pollution are big factors, but the free radicals you have some control over are the ones that come from pesticides, food additives, alcohol, prescription drugs and smoke.

Our bodies are capable of producing our own antioxidants.   But because our lifestyles and environment inundate us with free radicals, our antioxidants can’t keep up.  In today’s world we absolutely must assist our own defense systems by supplementing with antioxidants to balance the equation.

Of all the antioxidants available to us (some common ones being Vitamins A, C, E), Green Tea Extract significantly lowers the risk of breast cancer, and if you have breast cancer, it improves your prognosis. Research shows that green tea inhibits the growth of breast cancer and lowers the risk of breast tumors metastasizing or recurring.

Note:  Each Total Health Pack contains 400 mg of Green Tea Extract.

Vitamin E: is able to decrease your risk of breast cancer and improve your chances of surviving it if you have it because vitamin E is an excellent antioxidant. Also, Vitamin E slows down how fast tumor cells grow and divide, and promotes tumor cell death. It also prevents new blood vessels from growing into tumors. Without new blood vessels, tumors can’t get the necessary nutrients they need to grow bigger.

It is important to get natural vitamin E as outlined in my consumer report on vitamins (available at this site). You want d’alpha tocopherol not the synthetic dl form.

To be of any therapeutic value you need between 400 IU to 800 IU of Vitamin E daily.  Besides breast cancer protection, this dosage can also alleviate symptoms of fibrocystic breasts.

Note:  Each Total Health Pack contains 400 IU of Vitamin E (d’alpha tocopherol).

Vitamin C: it is believed that vitamin C combats cancer by promoting collagen synthesis and thereby preventing growing tumors from invading adjacent tissue.

Many researchers now believe that vitamin C prevents cancer by deactivating free radicals before they can damage DNA and initiate tumor growth while others believe that vitamin C may help the body’s own free radical defense mechanism destroy tumors in their early stages. Whatever the mechanism, it is now clear that vitamin C is effective in preventing cancers of the breast, cervix, colon, rectum, esophagus, larynx, lung, mouth, prostate and stomach, alleviating its symptoms, and in some cases, halting its progress.

Even though most multivitamin/mineral supplements contain vitamin C, they never contain enough to be of any benefit. Therefore, I always recommend taking supplemental vitamin C over and above what you get in the multi.  I also suggest taking vitamin C as calcium ascorbate (buffered vitamin C) along with bioflavanoids.

How much should you take?  I believe that more is better than less and ideally you would take a minimum of 1,000 mg of combined vitamin C and bioflavanoids twice a day.

Note:  Each Total Health Pack contains Vitamin C (Calcium Ascorbate) 900 mg and Citrus Bioflavanoids 180 mg

3 POWERFUL STEPS TO HEALTHIER BREASTS

1.  Eliminate or Reduce Dairy Consumption

Research links dairy consumption with increased risk of breast cancer. Studies identify IGF-1 as the culprit.

What is IGF-1?

Insulin-like growth factor 1 referred to as IGF-1 is an important hormone which we all have in our bodies.  This hormone should peak at puberty and decline with age.

In 1998 researchers at the Harvard Medical School released a major study providing conclusive evidence that IGF-1 stimulates the growth of both normal and cancerous cells.  This means high levels past puberty create a potent risk factor for cancer, especially prostate and breast cancer.

One of the ways that IGF-1 can become dangerously elevated is by drinking milk from cows that have been injected with Bovine Growth Hormone (BGH).

The only country allowing BGH to be injected into their dairy cows is the United States.  It is banned in Europe and Canada.

At first I was relieved, thinking that Canadians were safe.  However, on further investigation, I discovered that Canadians are in fact not safe at all.

Bulk milk products from the United States that have been produced with Bovine Growth Hormone are still allowed to be sold in Canada and used in the manufacturing of food such as cheese, ice cream and yogurt etc. Canada also imports many dairy products from the US.  None of these are labelled to let us know which ones contain BGH and which ones don’t.

What should you do?

The simplest thing to do is to limit the amount of dairy that you consume.  Try for 5 dairy free days per week.

When you consume dairy, remember that American-made cheeses are likely to be contaminated with BGH and excess levels of IGF-1 unless they’re organic or labelled BGH-free.

Most cheeses that are imported from Australia, New Zealand and Europe are safe.

What about your calcium?

Read the shocking details about calcium HERE  in the article “Total Health Packs for Strong Bones”

Note From Brenda: I strictly adhere to 5 dairy free days per week and I have very strong bones.

2. Eat Lots of Cruciferous Vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, kale, radishes, rutabaga, mustard seed, turnip and watercress are high in indoles, which help change excessive estrogen into harmless compounds for excretion.

Why is excess estrogen harmful?

From the book ‘What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer, How Hormone Balance Can Help Save Your Life’ by Dr. John. R. Lee, M.D : “Almost all risk factors associated with breast cancer are directly or indirectly related to excess estrogen, or estrogen that isn’t balanced with progesterone.  We believe correcting this imbalance, which Dr. Lee has termed estrogen dominance, is the essence of preventing and treating breast cancer.”

I-3-C  Is  Another Option

For those women at high risk of breast cancer, they might consider taking a supplement called I-3-C (Indole-3-carbinol) which is a phytochemical (nutritious component) that has been isolated from the cruciferous vegetables.

When your liver cannot neutralize an over-abundance of estrogen, the hormone can turn into a cancer-causing agent.  Indole-3-carbinol can deactivate the excessive estrogen hormones, which often precipitate breast cancer.

I-3-C as a Daily Supplement

More is not better.  The effective dose established in human studies is 6-7 mg per kg of weight per day. For a 120 lb. woman, this is just under 400 mg/day.  Also note that pregnant women should not take I-3-C, due to its modulation of estrogen.

I-3-C is available in the online store at www.BrendaEastwood.com

3. Do Not Use Anti-Perspirants

The most common area for breast cancer is near the armpit.  One of the reasons for this is the use of anti-perspirants.

Most products are an anti-perspirant/deodrant combination, so go home and check.  Deodorant is definitely fine if you are using an organic product but anti-perspirant is not.  Here’s why.

The human body has a few areas that it uses to purge toxins from the body; behind the knees, behind the ears, the groin area, and armpits.  The toxins are purged in the form of perspiration.

Anti-perspirant, as the name clearly indicates, prevents you from perspiring, thereby inhibiting the body from purging toxins from below the armpits.  These toxins do not just magically disappear.  Instead, the body deposits them in the lymph nodes below the arms since it cannot sweat them out.  Nearly all breast cancer tumors occur in the upper outside quadrant of the breast area.  This is precisely where the lymph nodes are located.

Miessence certified organic deodorant is available in the online store at www.BrendaEastwood.com

Note From Brenda: Because of the amount of cleansing that I do, combined with eating ‘clean’, I rarely feel the need to use deodorant.
