Total Health Packs for Prostate Health

Plus The Secret to Halting Male Pattern Baldness

Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

What is the Prostate?

The prostate is a walnut-sized gland that surrounds the male urethra – the tube that transports urine from the bladder through the penis.  It sits under the bladder just in front of the rectum. Its primary purpose is to produce an essential portion of the seminal fluid that carries sperm; the prostate also controls the outward flow of urine from the bladder.  Because of this dual role, signs of prostate trouble can include both urinary and sexual difficulties.

Nearly every man over age 45 has some abnormal prostate enlargement.  Prostate problems occur in three principal forms: an enlargement of the prostate referred to as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), prostatitis which can be sudden and severe, milder but persistent or recurring inflammation due to an infection and lastly, prostate cancer.

Protecting Your Prostate Against Cancer

The following nutrients have been proven to be protective against prostate cancer.

Omega 3 with EPA and DHA

Choose the right omega 3 supplement.  Many vegetarians in their attempt to avoid fish oil have mistakenly chosen flax seed oil supplements instead. While it is true that technically the body can convert the essential fatty acid ALA in the flax seed oil to EPA and DHA, it doesn’t do this very effectively.  In fact, the flax seed oil supplement might be detrimental to your prostate.

A study of 47,000 men found that the ALA omega-6 fatty acids stimulate the growth of prostate tumors in men. But scientists found that the EPA and DHA from fish oil could reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Note: Each Total Health Pack contains Omega 3 (Wild Salmon Oil EPA 180 mg DHA 120 mg)

Green Tea Extract

Green tea has been studied extensively and the results suggest that besides the protection that green tea extract affords, it may also help kill cancerous cells and stop their progression.

Note:  Each Total Health Pack contains 400 mg of Green Tea Extract.

Vitamin C (as calcium ascorbate with bioflavinoids)

It is now clear that vitamin C is not only effective in preventing prostate cancer, it is also known to alleviate its symptoms, and in some cases, halt its progress.

Note: There is 900 mg of calcium ascorbate and 180 mg of bioflavanoids in each Total Health Pack.

Vitamin D

Men with higher levels of vitamin D in their blood are half as likely to develop aggressive forms of prostate cancer as those with lower amounts.

Note: There is 500 IU of vitamin D3 in each Total Health Pack.

Vitamin E

According to a Finnish study, the incidence of prostate cancer and the death rate from the disease were significantly lower among male smokers who took vitamin E supplements than among those who did not. The incidence of prostate cancer diagnosis was 32% lower among men who took vitamin E, than among those who did not. The death rate from the disease was 41% lower among men who took vitamin E.

Long-term daily supplementation of natural vitamin E was associated with a substantial reduction in incidence of and mortality from prostate cancer.

Note:  There is 400 IU of Vitamin E d’alpha tocopherol in each Total Health Pack.

People with higher selenium intakes had a 39 percent reduced risk of bladder, breast, prostate, lung, colorectal and skin cancer.

Note: There is 50 mcg of Selenium in each Total Health Pack

Summary: To protect against prostate cancer begin taking at least one Total Health Pack daily as they provide all the nutrients described above.  However, since the Total Health Packs are health specific and not gender specific, men can take an additional supplements along with their Total Health Packs to also prevent benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH).

What Are The Symptoms of BPH?

BPH can include symptoms of:

Yet some men with enlarged prostates have no symptoms and are only alerted to a problem during an annual examination.

The Testosterone Myth –

The Secret to Halting Male Pattern Baldness

Many health authorities think that prostate problems are caused by excessive testosterone.  Logically this does NOT make sense.  If this were true, then 19 and 20 year old males would be developing prostate problems as these are the individuals with the highest testosterone levels.

Testosterone is not the problem; it is the breakdown of testosterone to DHT (dihydrotestosterone) that is ultimately at the root of prostate problems and male pattern baldness.

The more DHT that is produced the more the likelihood of prostate problems and male pattern baldness.  The enzyme 5-alpha-reductase is responsible for the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. Therefore it stands to reason that if you can inhibit or slow down this enzyme, then you could do a lot to support prostate health and maintain a fuller head of hair.

Along with At Least One Total Health Pack per day, the most recommended product for achieving this goal is:

Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens)

Clinical studies have used a dosage of 160 mg twice daily or 320 mg once daily. The effectiveness of the supplement will depend on the quality of the extraction process.  The Saw Palmetto berries should grow naturally and the extraction process should be free of chemical solvents resulting in an over 80% fatty acid content encapsulated in oil (rather than a dry form).

You don’t want to take saw palmetto on an empty stomach because it’s a fat soluble supplement, so it will not absorb well without a little bit of fat. I recommend taking it with eggs, which contain phospholipids (type of fat) that enhance absorption of fat soluble nutrients (nutrients that are absorbed through the intestinal tract with the help of fats). Or take it with a Total Health Pack that contains omega 3 in the form of salmon oil.

The saw palmetto available in my online store at contains 160 mg of wild harvest, 95% purified extract and 160 mg of olive oil.

Don’t wait for a prostate problem or male pattern baldness.  Begin now by taking one Total Health Pack daily along with 1 saw palmetto capsule.

If you are already experiencing some enlargement of your prostate and/or the start of male pattern baldness, I would highly recommend one Total Health Pack and one saw palmetto capsule twice a day.
